Cob Repair for Builders and Home Owners
The Programme
The course is designed for those interested in carrying out basic maintenance on their cob building. It looks at how to undertake suitable 'cob friendly' repairs. There is a little theory, but the course is predominantly practical.
The course will start by looking at the make up and properties of cob and why it is such an easy material to work with. Following this, you will investigate common methods of cob failure such as rat holes, face shearing etc. Finally we will look at common repair methods where you will get the chance to try them out for yourself.
Theory sessions will take place in one of our fully equipped classrooms, most of which contain the latest interactive white board technology. Also available are a number of IT suites where research on the subject can be taken. You will also have access to our fully equipped science and materials testing laboratory where you will study the physical properties of cob.
