Preservation of Heritage Buildings and Sites Level 3
The Programme
This course looks at styles, periods and construction methods of heritage properties to foster an appreciation of their cultural and historic value. It is for those who wish to be involved in building heritage, restoration and conservation works.
The course involves looking at a range of heritage buildings, the importance of protecting them and the reasons that they are threatened. It also studies the legislation that protects heritage buildings and sites, how they are assessed and graded for listing and procedures to obtain approval for alterations and changes of use. The course will be taught through a mixture of taught sessions, field visits and case studies.
