PAT Testing of Electrical Equipment (City & Guilds 2377-200)
The Programme
The course is designed for candidates with some electrical experience. It explains the requirements of testing portable electrical equipment, including the frequency of tests, the records that are required and the method of testing appliances.
This course has been designed to follow the legal requirements to ensure that all electrical portable appliances are inspected within the workplace for any electrical faults. These inspections and testing are to be carried out on a regular basis.
The course is suitable for all those responsible for the safety of electrical equipment.
Frequency of inspection and testing portable appliances will be introduced and the course will also cover hands on requirements and tests which will be carried out on various appliances. The following areas will be covered:
The Use of Portable Appliance Testers
Record Keeping
The IEE Code of Practice
Inspection and Testing Requirements
Each candidate will be required to carry out the practical testing of an appliance and to sit a Global Online Assessment (GOLA) which will last approximately one hour.
It is essential that all candidates have a current copy of The Code of Practice for In-Service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment. The publisher is the Institution of Electrical Engineers and the ISBN number is 0863418333.
Costs
£209 plus £41 exam fee.

Flexible enrolment dates available throughout the year.
Length of Study
Three days; two days instruction and one day of assessment and exam.
