Multi-Skill Training (Basic Plumbing)
The Programme
This course has proven to be very popular with housing associations, maintenance teams and caretakers. In addition to basic plumbing we offer basic carpentry and joinery, block work, painting and decorating, plastering, tiling and grouting.
Delegates do not need to attend all training sessions, as individual learning plans are completed to identify existing qualifications and/or experience. A typical training programme could include:-
Basic Plumbing:
Basic Plumbing Installations
Bending of Copper Tube in 15mm and 22mm
Identifying Plumbing Pipe Work and Fittings
Setting in Taps, Wastes and Overflows to Baths, Basins and Kitchen Sinks
Draining Systems
Minor Repairs
Basic Carpentry and Joinery:
Identify Health and Safety in the Workshop
Identify Locks and Latches (Door Ironmongery)
Install Locks and Latches Replace Floor Coverings, T & G Softwood, Chipboard
Hanging and Fitting Doors
Basic Block work:
An Introduction into Basic Block work (to include setting out, levelling and jointing techniques for straight and returning block work)
Laying Blocks Building a Quoin
Running to a Line
Painting & Decorating:
Preparation of Surfaces
Preparation of Materials
Application of Coatings by Brush and Roller
Knowledge of basic paper hanging skills
Identification of Materials and Their Uses
Basic Health and Safety
Plastering, Tiling & Grouting:
Preparation of Surfaces
Plasterboard; skimming and finishing including patching and repairing of plasterboard and internal plastering techniques
Setting Out and Tiling Around Sanitary and Kitchen Fittings
We have a highly trained and experienced team of lecturing staff and are happy to discuss your individual requirements and develop a bespoke training course to meet the needs of your workforce. Please also see the Multi-Skill Training course in our Construction Trades section.
Costs
£60 per person per half day of training (based on a minimum class size of four).
Other courses run throughout the year when you can send individual candidates to join with other organisations.

Flexible enrolment dates available throughout the year.
Length of Study
Minimum of two days recommended for each trade area.
