Basic Lead Welding and Bossing

The Programme

This course is designed to develop the lead skills of those working on weathering systems. Candidates will undertake training to achieve standards of competence required to safely produce lead roof components using welding and bossing techniques.

The aim of the course is to provide Continuing Professional Development (CPD) in a relaxed and friendly manner, for the development of lead skills for people working on weathering systems. Candidates will undertake training and receive guidance to successfully achieve the standards of competence required to safely produce lead roofing components using the bossing and welding techniques.

Candidates will understand milled and cast sheet lead production and how this is affected by British Standard 12588.
They will be able to work safely with appropriate hand tools and have an understanding of the use of oxy-acetylene and MAPP gas welding techniques.

Candidates will be able to demonstrate the successful safe production of lead roofing components by the bossing and welding process. From the experience gained, they will be able to set out basic chimney weathering components, lead slates and valley systems.

Practical and oral assessments will be undertaken to inform, promote and develop confidence.

£325 including materials and equipment.
