Advanced Diagnostics Using Oscilloscopes and Multi-Meters
The Programme
This course will start with the basics of electricity and will include terminology, abbreviations and applications of Ohm's law. A range of test equipment will be discussed and methods of connecting to circuits.
Learners will develop skills in using multi-meters to take common measurements such as voltage drop, amperage and resistance readings. Waveforms and patterns will be investigated stating common outputs from a range of sensors, to include knock, mass air flow, MAP, hall effect, magnetic and crank position.
Simulators will also be used to construct circuits that include sensors, faults can be inserted into these circuits so that learners can develop their practical diagnostic skills. By carrying out the practical activities learners will develop their understanding of electrical circuits and fault diagnosis.
