F-Gas Training and Assessment

The Programme

The course is designed for operatives who install, service and repair refrigeration, air conditioning and heat pump systems. It has been introduced to meet the legal requirement of EC Regulation 842/2006, commonly known as the F-Gas Regulation.

New training courses have been introduced to meet the legal requirement of EC Regulation 842/2006 (commonly known as the F-Gas Regulation). The scheme is designed for operatives who install, service and repair refrigeration, air conditioning and heat pump systems, and require the following skills: 9642; Safe handling of refrigerant techniques 9642; Pipework and jointing skills 9642; Recovery of refrigerants 9642; Intrusive and non-intrusive leak and performance checking of systems.

Pipework and brazing will form part of the new F-Gas Assessment and delegates who have little or no experience of oxy-acetylene brazing should attend a ConstructionSkills' Pipework and Brazing course prior to being assessed under the new F-Gas Scheme. There will be four Categories of Certification:

Category 1 (J11) Leakage check, recovery, install, maintain, service - all systems
Category 2 (J12) Leakage check, recovery, install, service, maintain of systems less than 3kg (6kg hermetically sealed)
Category 3 (J13) Recovery of refrigerant of systems less than 3kg (6kg hermetically sealed)
Category 4 (J14) Leakage check
