Multi-Skill Training

The Programme

This course has proven to be very popular with housing associations, maintenance teams and caretakers. A typical programme can include basic carpentry and joinery, plumbing, block work, painting and decorating, plastering and tiling and grouting.

Candidates do not need to attend all training sessions as individual learning plans are completed to identify existing qualifications and/or experience. A typical training programme could include:
Basic Carpentry & Joinery
Identify Health & Safety in the Workshop
Identify Locks & Latches (Door Ironmongery)
Install Locks & Latches
Replace Floor Coverings, Tongue & Groove Softwood and Chipboard
Hanging & Fitting Doors

Basic Block work:
An introduction into basic block work to include setting out, levelling and jointing techniques for straight and returning block work
Laying Blocks
Building a Quoin
Running to a Line

Painting and Decorating:
Preparation of Surfaces
Preparation of Materials
Application of Coatings by Brush & Roller
Knowledge of Basic Paper Hanging Skills
Identification of Materials and Their Uses
Basic Health & Safety

Plastering, Tiling & Grouting:
Preparation of Surfaces
Plasterboard; skimming and finishing including patching and repairing of plasterboard and internal plastering techniques
Setting out and tiling around sanitary and kitchen fittings

We have a highly trained and experienced team of lecturing staff and are happy to discuss your individual requirements and develop a bespoke training course to meet the needs of your workforce.

Costs

£60 per person per half day (based on a minimum group of four).
NB: Other courses run throughout the year when individual candidates can join other organisations, please enquire for dates.

Dates

Flexible enrolment dates available throughout the year. Bespoke training courses can be adapted to suit individual company needs.

Length of Study

A minimum of two days recommended for each trade area.
