The Programme
This course is designed for school leavers who may have needed support at school, are not yet vocationally focused, want to gain confidence or need help in deciding their future.
The Programme Content
Students have the opportunity to experience a wide range of vocational areas at entry level including catering, horticulture, working in a built environment, retail, hairdressing, motor vehicle, working in a care setting and business administration. The course includes work experience, Functional Skills, residentials, challenge awards and a variety of creative and leisure activities.
Entry Requirements
Entry to the course is by interview. Students will need to show they are motivated and able to travel independently.
Costs
Students are expected to provide appropriate clothing for vocational and leisure elements on the curriculum eg safety boots. Students are also expected to finance residentials, educational visits and leisure activities*.

Progression
The course lays the foundation for progression to further education courses, supported employment or employment. Through the review process and discussions with Careers South West, students may choose one of the following: another further education course, employment or supported employment.
Length of Study
Two to three years.
Academic Year
This course starts in the 2012 / 2013 academic year.
It’s really good because you get to go on residentials and you get to experience catering. You get to do painting, decorating and woodwork.
