The Programme
This programme is for students with severe learning difficulties. Learners are supported by lecturers and learning support staff at all times during their college day. A taster course is organised in the year prior to entry. Entry is by interview.
The Programme Content
The courses enable students to maximise their learning potential and develop skills to prepare them more fully for life by using dedicated base rooms and wider college facilities. A broad based curriculum is offered including Personal and Social Development, Functional Skills and Vocational Skills. There are flexible links with other programmes where appropriate. A person centred learner review is held each year which includes input from relevant external agencies.
Entry Requirements
Learners can apply at any time between the ages of 16 to 19. There are no formal entry requirements. Each prospective student will have an interview and a taster course to assess their individual learning needs.
Costs
Students will need to bring money daily to pay for food, drinks, educational visits and for some activities such as swimming and pottery. Students will also be expected to contribute towards the cost of their residential visit.

Progression
Students may move to other supported learning provision depending on their individual progress. Progression routes will be discussed at the annual review.
Length of Study
There are three one year courses, learners can apply at any time between the ages of 16 to 19.
Academic Year
This course starts in the 2012 / 2013 academic year.
It’s really good because you get to go on residentials and you get to experience catering. You get to do painting, decorating and woodwork.
