The Programme
This programme is for learners who aspire to gain practical skills in a professional kitchen and restaurant environment. This course will develop basic practical skills in the kitchen and restaurant, covering a range of topics from basic meat and vegetable preparation, cake and dough products through to team and customer service skills. Work experience - to enhance employability - may be part of the programme.
The Programme Content
The course covers both practical and theory tasks covering a range of subjects such as Basic Cookery, Introduction to the Hospitality Industry, Healthy Eating and Food Service.
Entry Requirements
There are no specific entry requirements, but a love of food and a passion for meeting people would be an advantage.
Costs
Protective clothing and equipment will cost approximately £250. There may be some costs involved with work experience and educational visits*.

Progression
This course is a pathway to progression on to Level 1 and 2 hospitality and catering programmes or for anyone seeking a trainee position in the hospitality and catering industry.
Length of Study
One year.
