The Programme

This course provides the underpinning knowledge and practical training for childcare and education practitioners who work with children in a wide variety of settings. Each unit in the course includes a balance of theory and practice and is further supported by placements in pre-schools, day nurseries, primary schools, childminders and families.

Understanding children's development
Keeping children safe
Communication with children and adults
Preparing and maintaining environments for childcare
Professional development

Entry Requirements

Four GCSEs at grade E or above. Two personal references and a successful interview are also required.

Costs

There will also be a cost of £44 for a Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) check.

Progression

Many students go on to study Level 3 Childcare or go into employment and continue studying through the apprenticeship route, gaining work based qualifications to enhance their careers.
