The Programme
This course is designed to develop skills and knowledge, enabling students to work in the industry in their chosen craft. This course covers the following practical areas; Plastering, Bricklaying, Tiling, Plumbing, Carpentry, Storm Water Systems, Roofing, Lead Flashing, Drainage and Basic Electrics.
The Programme Content
Eight units including Health and Safety. All units to be assessed for knowledge by Q&A on our Virtual Learning Environment system. Synoptic practical assessments will take place to check that you have acquired the strict criteria in practical activities .
Functional skills in English, Maths and ICT are included in the programme content.
Entry Requirements
There are no formal entry requirements but a good understanding of Maths and English will be of benefit. Demonstration of reliability, motivation and a keen interest will all be considered.
Costs
There will be costs of approximately £30 for materials and course book.

Tiverton Campus
Progression
On completion of this Diploma, learners may progress to employment (NVQ Diploma Level 2 in maintenance operations) or a course at Petroc in one of the specialist areas.
Length of Study
Two years.
Academic Year
This course starts in the 2012 / 2013 academic year.
