The Programme
This comprehensive and flexible qualification is designed to thoroughly prepare candidates for employment in the health and fitness industry.The course will be taught by practising professionals, using a variety of practical and theory based sessions. The delivery of the course will be realistic to the fitness industry that you will be aspiring to work in and may include some work outside of normal college hours.
The Programme Content
The mandatory units followed are:
Certificate in Fitness Instructing Gym or Exercise to Music
Understanding the Fitness, Leisure and Recreation Industry
Award in Circuit Training
There are also a number of optional units, which allow you to broaden your expertise of various aspects of exercise and fitness.
Entry Requirements
There are no formal prerequisites for this qualification. Selection will be by interview where candidates will need to prove an interest in the fitness industry and a commitment to fitness.
Costs
Related additional costs may include materials, equipment and visits which are payable by all students. If you are 19 years old or over tuition fees will apply, please enquire.

Barnstaple Campus
Progression
You could move on to the Level 3 Certificate in Personal Training. Alternatively, this course gives you all the qualifications you need to work in different parts of the fitness industry, in gyms, leisure centres or as a freelance instructor or trainer.

One year.

This course starts in the 2012 / 2013 academic year.
