Hairdressing VRQ Diploma - Barnstaple

The Programme Content
This course will teach you the basic skills of hairdressing enabling you to work as a junior stylist; styling, cutting, colouring and perming hair. You will study a minimum of nine units leading to a Level 2 in Hairdressing. Additionally you will study basic salon skills during induction period to ensure this is the industry for you. Functional Skills will also be studied alongside hairdressing, strengthening your employability.
Entry Requirements
Four GSCEs at grade D or above including Maths, English and preferably Science. Good personal presentation skills and commitment to learning. At interview you will also be expected to complete a practical test and pre-entry test to determine your literacy and numeracy levels.
Costs
You will need to purchase the salon uniform and your personal equipment which will cost approximately £300. Any educational visits, manufacturer diploma courses or similar activities will also be for paid by you*.

Progression
On completion of the qualification, you may continue your studies towards achieving a further hairdressing qualification at college or in employment. You should make every effort during the course to find out all you can about the hairdressing profession by asking questions, attending open days and seminars and researching possible career routes to help you make the right career choices.
