Music and Music Technology BTEC Diploma - Barnstaple

The Programme
The main aim of the programme is to introduce students to productions which have a music or music technology emphasis and will also give a grounding within various aspects of the music industry. The programme will be project led and will cater for both musicians and technicians within a working environment. Furthermore, it can be a progression route onto the national diploma courses.
The Programme Content
You will study units that include or relate to music performance, planning and setting up a recording, sequencing (composing music using computers), learning about aspects of music (such as notation, styles and structures), study of the music business and a final major performance that you will help to organise as either a performer or technician.
Entry Requirements
Five GCSEs at grade E or above and you must show an interest in music or music technology. You will be asked about your experience as well as interviewed about your qualifications.
Costs
Students will need to provide their own headphones and purchase a set of leads which will cost approximately £20.

Progression
In the past, students from the Level 2 Diploma have progressed to the BTEC national diploma here at Petroc or on to A Level programmes. From there, they have moved on to higher education at establishments including Bath, Salford, Thames Valley University, East London and Petroc.
Length of Study
One year.
Academic Year
This course starts in the 2012 / 2013 academic year.
