Performing Arts BTEC Diploma - Barnstaple

The Programme
The focus of this course is on learning about the performing arts industry, centred around acting and theatre conventions.
The Programme Content
Students cover areas including movement, use of voice, rehearsal and performance, devising or performing from play texts, culminating in a final major public performance that will be organised and promoted by the students themselves. Students rehearse, perform, administrate and organise their own productions under staff guidance in our purpose built studio. They may also have the opportunity to paint and construct sets and props where appropriate. In some cases, light and provide sound and music for the shows.
Entry Requirements
Four GCSEs at grade E or above.
Costs
Normally we expect to provide costumes, sets, lights and theatres, etc, but you will probably want to invest in make up to support your own performance needs. You will be expected to provide normal learning materials such as stationery*.

Progression
The Level 2 Diploma is designed for progression to the BTEC Extended Diploma in Performing Arts (a two year course) dependent on achieving a minimum of a Merit grade overall. From there, students have moved on to higher education at establishments such as E15, Central School of Speech and Drama, and Petroc.
Length of Study
One year.
Academic Year
This course starts in the 2012 / 2013 academic year.

I found it a little scary coming back to college; I shouldn't have worried though because I made friends really easily and the lecturers were amazing and really helpful.
