The Programme

There are a variety of careers available in the sports industry and this course is the first step for students who are hoping to work in this field. This programme provides the students with a taster of the skills and experiences needed to undertake a career in sport.

The Programme Content

Units include The Body in Sport, Instructing Exercise and Fitness, and Practical Sport and Health and Safety. The assignments require you to produce work in several different ways, such as written work, organised coaching sessions, training plans and presentations. You will be involved in planning and leading sports activities, instructing exercise to others and contributing to real life sport experiences. If successful at attaining the extended certificate you may have the opportunity to complete the diploma.

Entry Requirements

Four GCSEs at grade E or above. An interest in sport and the willingness to do coursework are key.

Costs

We try to keep costs to a minimum, but encourage students to purchase a course tracksuit, polo shirt/hoodie. There will also be a cost towards transport for any external trips/visits*.

Progression

The preparation and training that this course provides will give you an advantage over other applicants when applying for jobs. Successful students may also progress on to other advanced courses at college. Your tutor can advise you on these.
