Trowel Occupations Diploma - Barnstaple

The Programme
This programme seeks to develop the skills already gained at Level 1 and allows students to progress in their chosen trade of trowel occupations. This course will improve practical skills and knowledge and combined with work experience will provide enhanced opportunities for employment within the trowel occupations industry.
The Programme Content
Units include building methods and construction technology, working drawings and setting Out basic masonry structures, thin joint masonry and timber frame construction, solid walling and isolated and attached piers and cavity walling foundations vernacular cavity walling. Students may be offered additional qualifications and these will be discussed during induction week.
Entry Requirements
Four GCSEs at grade E or above including Maths and English. This can be relaxed and will be discussed at interview.
Costs
You may be required to purchase safety clothing.

Barnstaple Campus
Progression
Towards the end of your course, your personal tutor will discuss possible progression routes with you. These may include other programmes of study, work with training or progression to the Level 3 Diploma in Trowel Occupations.
Length of Study
The course lasts for two years and operates on a block release system. A calendar of block dates will be given to you at the start of your course.
Academic Year
This course starts in the 2012 / 2013 academic year.
