The Programme
This qualification is designed to increase opportunities for individuals who would like to enter the industry. The course develops manual skills and the student's knowledge of vehicles. Students are introduced to diagnostics skills associated with vehicle maintenance and repair, covering both practical and theory.
The Programme Content
The course is split up into units and is assessed by a practical assessment and theory related question paper. The qualification is made up from seven units covering the four main systems on a vehicle; engines, transmission, electrical/electronic and chassis.
Entry Requirements
There are no minimum grades for entry, however there is an expectation that students will have completed the Level 1 Diploma in Vehicle Maintenance. GCSE grade E or above in Mathematics, English or ICT would be an advantage. Assessment of the students prior knowledge and experience at interview will determine entry onto the course.

You will need to supply overalls and suitable safety footwear*.

Progression
Students who complete this programme can progress to an Apprenticeship programme at a garage. Once employed they will be encouraged to complete further qualifications as required.

One year.
Academic Year
This course starts in the 2012 / 2013 academic year.
