Communication and Cultural Studies A Level - Tiverton

The Programme
This is a fascinating course which seeks to develop an understanding of communication and culture theories plus a greater understanding of how our culture influences the way we think and act.
The Programme Content
The course is split into two units: Unit 1 explores the theory and practices of communication and culture and how it is applied to everyday life situations. This unit is examined in the Summer term and is worth 50% of the total marks.
Unit 2 is coursework based and requires the student to develop a portfolio, responding to a series of questions set by the exam board and directly related to current cultural and communication issues. This allows students you explores areas that are of interest to them. The portforio makes up the other 50% of the total marks.
Entry Requirements
Five GCSEs at grade C or above in appropriate subjects, which must include English Language.

Students will be expected to purchase the course textbook costing approximately £16*.

Progression
Students who complete the course may have the opportunity to carry on to the second year course. Students will find it is a useful qualification for a range of higher education courses including advertising, public relations, cultural studies, business studies, media, psychology and many more.
