The Programme
The Certificate course is equivalent to one AS Level. The Subsidiary Diploma course is equivalent to one A Level.
The Programme Content
These are practical, work related courses covering all aspects of the media and video production. On the course you will learn a range of production skills including scheduling, budgeting, camera use, lighting and editing with a range of digital software that will include the use of industry standard equipment.
All skills must be demonstrated to a high level of competence and supporting evidence provided in an assignment file, along with your finished video production where applicable.
Entry Requirements
Five GCSEs at grade C or above, including English.
Costs
You will be expected to purchase your own blank DV tapes, DVDs etc. Some projects may carry a small cost for props, costumes, makeup etc. We normally offer some voluntary educational trips to media institutions such as the BBC at a cost to be determined*.

Progression
The course can form part of the basis for entry into Higher Education courses including film and media production. Entrance into the media production industries requires further training, talent, persistence and an element of luck.
Length of Study
One year Level 3 Certificate course with a follow on option of a second year Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma.
Academic Year
This course starts in the 2012 / 2013 academic year.
