The Programme

During the course, you will explore both literary and linguistic aspects of language, looking not only at poetry, drama and the novel but also at a wide range of non literary texts, both written and spoken. Students then use their knowledge and understanding in the production of their own original writing.

The Programme Content

The AS Level examined unit has two sections, an anthology of pre 1900s poetry and a comparison of In Cold Blood and The True History of the Kelly Gang. The coursework will require two creative pieces and an analytical commentary based on the study of a variety of texts in the genres of Travel Writing and Monologues.

At A2 Level - for the coursework unit - you will study two plays to complete an analytical essay. These texts will then help inform your completion of two creative pieces designed to be performed and an analytical commentary. For the exam you will study Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte, together with a variety of non literary and spoken texts.
