Performing Arts (Dance) BTEC Certificate/Subsidiary Diploma - Barnstaple

The Programme
This is a practical course in dance which is equivalent to one A Level. It will develop students' contemporary dance technique, choreographic skills and understanding, performance skills and contextual analysis. Assessment is continuous across the two years and requires the successful completion of six units. It can be taken as part of an A Level programme.
The Programme Content
The course culminates in a final major project, producing and performing in a live performance to a public audience.
Entry Requirements
Five GCSEs at grade C or above and evidence of ability in dance.
Costs
A £30 course fee provides costumes, sets, lights and theatres etc. We organise optional trips which you are required to pay for*.

Progression
All students who have studied dance at Petroc and applied for university have achieved places, many at the top universities and dance colleges in the country.
Length of Study
One year for the certificate or two years for the subsidiary diploma.
Academic Year
This course starts in the 2012 / 2013 academic year.
Further Information
This course has enabled me to further my skills and to progress in the area that I’m most passionate about. It’s given me the opportunity to guarantee a future career within the theatres subject.
