The Programme Content
In this course you will receive a solid foundation in classical physics, sometimes known as the Newtonian World, extending your learning from GCSE in topics such as Newton's laws and momentum, circular motion and oscillations and thermal physics. You will also encounter modern physics (fields, particles and frontiers of physics) including, electric and magnetic fields, capacitors and exponential decay, nuclear physics, medical imaging and modelling the universe. These topics will be explored through experimentation, discussion and problem solving exercises. You are encouraged to think about the application of your subject knowledge beyond the classroom and to take an interest in current developments in the field.
Entry Requirements
Five GCSEs at grade C or above in appropriate subjects, including English. A grade B or above in Physics/Additional Science and Mathematics are mandatory requirements for this course.

Progression
If you are considering going to university, then physics is essential for any engineering course and well regarded in applications for medicine. There are a wide variety of courses in which physics is desirable and a range of courses from theoretical physics to experimental physics with many combined degrees such as physics and finance. Physics graduates are in great demand in industry and commerce; they have excellent problem solving skills and are good with numbers.

Some of us are from previous courses, some from work, we’ve got to know each other really quickly and get on really well, like we’ve been lifelong friends, in fact for some of us it’s only been 6 weeks.
