Sport (Performance and Excellence) BTEC Certificate/Subsidiary Diploma -
Course code: FTT057
The Programme
This course looks at developing sports skills in specific areas of sport and can be ran alongside other A Levels.
The Programme Content
The certificate covers three units over a year, with the subsidiary diploma adding a further three units in year two, making the whole course equivalent to one A Level. The units covered include Anatomy and Physiology, Physiology of Fitness, Assessing Risk in Sport, Outdoor Adventure, Fitness Training and Programming, and Instructing Physical Activity.
Entry Requirements
Five GCSEs at grade C or above, preferably including English, Maths and a science, or a BTEC First Diploma or Certificate in a related subject.
Costs
There will be costs of approximately £200 for course admin, clothing and educational trips/visits.
Progression
This course is ideal for students who want to pursue a career in a sports related higher education course, or a wider range of professions such as those in the sport and leisure industry, the armed forces, public services, management, teaching and outdoor activities industry.
Length of Study
One or two years.
