The Programme
Information Technology allows the candidate to develop a range of IT skills. It will normally be taken alongside a programme of three AS Levels, which may be in non computing subjects. The qualification will develop both your creative side and your technical computing ability. For example, it will teach you design skills and how to apply these to create websites and animations.
The Programme Content
The course comprises six units, two mandatory and four optional. Mandatory unit one - Communications and Employability Skills. Mandatory unit two - Computer Systems. The Optional units are the following: Unit 20 - Client side Web Development. Unit 31 Animation. Unit 16 - Programming. Unit 8 - eCommerce.
Three units, including the mandatory units, will be completed in the first year, followed by the further three in the second year.
Entry Requirements
Five GCSEs at Grade C or above.
Costs
A home computer is not essential, but would be beneficial, as would a memory stick to save and transport your work.

Progression
The qualification carries the same UCAS points as an AS/A2 Level, helping you to gain university entry. Foundation Degrees are available at the College.
Information Technology will help you develop specialist skills required in the IT industry. Possible career paths are:
Web design
Graphic art
Animator
Computer games design
Computer games programmer

One or two years.

This course starts in the 2012 / 2013 academic year.
