Art and Design Extended Diploma - Tiverton

Course code: FTT058

The Programme

This is a two year course designed to ensure students develop their creative talents alongside practical vocational skills and enable you to make decisions about your future career.

The Programme Content

After an introductory phase which aims to develop a wide range of art and design skills, you will select specialist units working on a range of practical and vocational assignments to prepare a portfolio of work in your chosen specialist area. The course encourages learners to consider a range of art and design pathways whilst also offering specific specialist pathways in photography and graphic design. You will be encouraged to push the boundaries of art and design to help you progress your aspirations for the future.

Entry Requirements

Five GCSEs at grade C or above, including Art and Design or a BTEC Diploma in Art and Design at Level 2. You will be requested to provide a portfolio of recent art work showing your skills and interest in Art and Design which reflects your chosen specialism.

Costs

At the beginning of the course learners will need to buy some basic equipment and sketchbooks costing approximately £25. There will also be a studio fee of £90 per year which covers general costs of studio equipment and specialist materials*.

Progression

This course aims to prepare and provide students with the skills and knowledge needed to work within the creative industries. It gives students both the qualifications and portfolio of work necessary for entry into higher education or our one year diploma in foundation studies. It can also lead to a range of interesting and exciting employment opportunities in a variety of creative art and design settings.
