The Programme
This is a two year practical programme designed to help students make decisions about their future aspirations in art and design. After an introductory period developing skills in a wide range of disciplines, students will complete an assignment in all of the specialist pathways in order to help make a choice of their future pathway.
The Programme Content
The course offers pathways in Fashion and Textiles, Graphic Design and Illustration, Fine Art and 3D Design/Crafts. For the last two years we have provided life drawing qualifications for all students on the course.
Entry Requirements
Five GCSEs at grade C or above or BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Art and Design (Merit grade). You will also be asked to provide a portfolio of recent art work showing your skills and interest in art and design and reflecting your chosen specialism. All applicants should have completed an art and design related GCSE.
Costs
You will need to buy some basic equipment and sketchbooks at the beginning of the course costing approximately £60. There will be a studio fee to cover the cost of basic materials and specialist facilities*.

Progression
Many students will choose to progress to specialist degree courses in art and design, either at Petroc or elsewhere.

Two years.
