The Programme
The programme involves both time in college and time in work experience, which means students need to take a very organised approach to their studies. Placements are arranged by the College and you will be assessed in placement by the Petroc assessor.
The Programme Content
There are 12 units on this course which cover a wide variety of topics in depth. Additionally there is a reflective practitioner portfolio, which is a collection of evidence from the four settings you have worked in and leads to Qualified Practitioner Status. The portfolio also carries its own UCAS points. During your time at college you will also be having experience in four different settings amounting to 800 hours voluntary work experience.
Entry Requirements
Five GCSEs at grade C or above ideally including English, Maths and a science - there is room on this course to undertake one GCSE re-sit.
Costs
You may wish to purchase a USB for saving work and an optional USB purchase which is pre-loaded with relevant information. There may be cost of travel to placement and clothes to wear at work*.

Progression
Some students who have completed this course with the required UCAS points have gone on to university to study a variety of topics, including teaching and nursing.

Two years.
