The Programme
This qualification is a practical, work related course, which has been designed to meet the needs of those who wish to work in ICT, systems analysis and design, and software engineering. It will also give you a good foundation for work in business and other areas of the IT industry. The qualification is available as a subsidiary diploma (equivalent to one A Level), diploma (two A Levels) and extended diploma (three A Levels).
Entry Requirements
Five GCSEs at grade C or above, ideally to include Maths and English, or a Merit in the BTEC Level 2 Diploma in IT or equivalent. Just as important as your formal qualifications is your enthusiasm for IT. You must be willing to develop a good all round knowledge of IT; this includes the ability to prepare accurate reports on your research and work.
Costs
Students on this course will need a USB flash drive (memory stick) which should not cost between £5 and £7.

Tiverton Campus
Progression
Students have the choice of either seeking employment immediately (eg as a trainee engineer, support analyst or web designer) or progressing to higher education. Further studies may include a foundation or bachelors degree, or BTEC higher national diploma in subjects such as computing, computer science, software engineering or business management. foundation degrees in computing or business computing are available at Petroc.

Two years.

This course starts in the 2012 / 2013 academic year.
