The Programme

This course is run at the Academy of Music and Sound in Exeter delivering instrument specific, (guitar, bass, drum and vocal) rock and popular music courses in state of the art music studios with experienced teachers and working musicians.

Entry Requirements

Five GCSEs at grade C or above (preferably with English) and an ability to play your first instrument to a reasonable level of competence. You will usually have been playing for over 18 months and be expected to attend an assessment.

Costs

You will need to provide your own instrument (unless you are a drummer). Students are expected to contribute towards the master class enrichment weeks. Otherwise, equipment (such as headphones and amplifiers) is provided by the Academy.

Progression

Students can progress from the extended diploma to higher education courses at Petroc or elsewhere, or pursue various career opportunities within the music industry such as performing and recording in a band, working as a session musician or teaching.

Length of Study

Subsidiary - one year.
Extended - two years.

Academic Year

This course starts in the 2012 / 2013 academic year.
