The Programme

Do you love outdoor activities? Do you want to live, breathe and work in the great outdoors? Are you adventurous, determined and enthusiastic? Looking for a course with a difference? Happy to be outdoors whatever the weather? This could be the course for you! It covers both the theoretical and practical aspects of a wide range of land and water based outdoor adventurous activities. Teaching and assessments are based on realistic situations from the world of outdoor education.

The Programme Content

Memorable times guaranteed! On this course we aim to make it as practical as possible. Often getting very cold and very wet in the process! An open mind, willingness to try anything and a sense of adventure are essential. The course covers a number of broad themes including improving personal skills/performance and coaching in a range of outdoor activities including rock climbing, kayaking/canoeing, sea level traversing, surfing, orienteering/navigation, forest skills, and expeditions both at home and abroad.

Entry Requirements

Five GCSEs at grade C or above with at least a grade D in English. Practical experience in at least one relevant outdoor activity.

Costs

Students will be expected to contribute towards travel, residential and additional course costs. There is a course fleece that can be purchased and you will also need to provide your own personal equipment*.

This course will prepare you for work in the outdoor industry or for a place on one of many exciting university courses.

Subsidiary diploma one year, extended diploma two years.
