The Programme
The course is ideal preparation if students are interested in careers that involve coaching, strength and conditioning, teaching and sports science support. Students will be involved in an educational model that incorporates a business approach to the development of sporting excellence within North Devon. The content looks at the physiological, psychological, biomechanical and sociological factors affecting performance and elite level athletes.
The Programme Content
The programme comprises of 18 coursework assessed units that include Principles of Physiology and Anatomy, Physiology of Fitness, Training and Fitness for Sport, Sports Coaching, Sport and Society, Fitness Testing, Sports Nutrition, Instructing Physical Activity and Exercise, Organising Sports Events, Sport as a Business, and Psychology for Sports Performance.
Entry Requirements
Five GCSEs at grade C or above, or Merit profile at a relevant Level 2 qualification. A grade E or above in English is also required.
Costs
Whilst every effort is made to keep costs to a minimum there are several associated with the course; course clothing at approximately £45 and a Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) check*.
Progression
This course will prepare you for entry to university or for direct entry into sports industry.

Two years.
