Foundation Degree in Health and Social Care
UCAS code: BL95
Awarding Body: University of Plymouth
Mode Of Study
Full time over two years.
Part time over three years.
The Programme
An exciting opportunity to study current issues related to the expanding sector of health and social care. This is the largest employment field in the South West region and the foundation degree has close links with local employment trends. Health care and social care share a common core of values, skill base and underpinning knowledge that is reflected in this programme of study.
The Programme Content
Stage 1 of the programme introduces appropriate professional skills including communication and developing graduate skills as well as knowledge related to social change, health and social care legislation, social policy, lifespan development and understanding health and social care organisations. In Stage 2 students build on this knowledge and are encouraged to develop skills as independent learners, studying issues of equality and managing resources as well as carrying out a work based project and studies of professional practise.
Entry Requirements
Applicants are normally required to have English and Maths at GCSE or equivalent and a minimum of 80 UCAS points (with one A2 if from A Levels) or an equivalent qualification. However, mature applicants will be considered on an individual basis; they must be able to demonstrate academic ability, motivation and relevant experience. It is also a requirement that applicants demonstrate their suitability to work with vulnerable people.
Costs
An enhanced search with the Criminal Record Bureau (CRB) will be done for each prospective student and there will be a charge for this. Please discuss this on application. Students will be required to purchase their own USB memory sticks and will need to purchase their own texts for the course.
