Advanced Apprenticeship in Electrical Installation

This course is for people who wish to enter the electrical installation, contracting or associated industries via a work placement.
The programme covers electrical installation theory and regulations, as well as a wide range of practical skills associated with electrical work, together with the associated theory and science.
The Programme Content
Bright sparks should consider this Apprenticeship, which gives a complete grounding in the scientific and practical aspects
of electrical installation. Apprentices learn how to install and commission electrical systems - test them, inspect them, find and diagnose faults. Attendance at College includes studying science based subjects to an advanced level and practical workshop based activities. They will also need to undertake a practical competency assessment in the latter end of the Apprenticeship.
Entry Requirements
You must be employed in the electrical industry in order to start this programme, have a good basic education and could have achieved a City & Guilds 2330 Electro Technical Certificate at Level 2 through our Pre Apprenticeship Programme.
If joining the course without having achieved GCSE grade C or above in Maths and English or Grade E or above in ICT then you would complete a programme of Keys Skills in Communications Level 2, Application of Numbers Level 2 and ICT Level 1 during your first year.
A colour blindness test is carried out as part of the initial assessment.

All costs are covered in this course including materials and 2 basic reference books.
There are additional reference books that could be purchased to enhance your personal library.

Progression
On successful completion of your Advanced Apprenticeship you will be a qualified Electrician working in the industry.
Additional courses can then be taken such as C&G 2382-10 17th Edition, C&G 2392-10 Inspection and Testing and C&G 2377-12 Pat Testing to further develop your professional qualifications.
You can also branch out into other specialist areas such as design, Programme Logic Control systems, refrigeration and courses in electrical/electronic engineering working at ONC or HNC Level.
Length of Study
Up to three years, part time, daytime course. Typically one day per week in College and four days per week in the workplace.
