Plastering Diploma - Tiverton

The Programme
This construction course provides the practical skills and knowledge required to successfully embark upon a progression route in college or a career in the construction industry as a plasterer. The focus is based on the practical skills and underpinning knowledge required in the construction industry.
The Programme Content
There are nine units including health and safety, knowledge of information Level 2, building methods and technology Level 2 plus the main plastering units, apply plaster materials to external surfaces, fix dry lining and plasterboard products to interiors, form sand and cement screeds, produce plaster components, apply plaster materials to internal surfaces and position and secure fibrous plaster components. All units to be assessed for knowledge by question and answer on our Virtual Learning Environment system. Synoptic practical assessments will take place to check that you have acquired the strict criteria in practical activities. Functional skills in English, Maths and ICT may be included in the programme content.
Entry Requirements
Learners must be 16 years of age or over. Completion of the Level 1 course is mandatory and work experience is strongly recommended.
Costs
There will be costs of approximately £30 for materials and course book.

Tiverton Campus
Progression
Full completion of the qualification will allow you to progress to an apprenticeship (NVQ Diploma L2 in plastering). You must be employed to be able to complete the NVQ Diploma L2.
Length of Study
One year.
Academic Year
This course starts in the 2012 / 2013 academic year.
Further Information
The lecturers are very accommodating, it gives you a lot more opportunities, helps you with the financial side, if you struggle with something, the lecturers will help you one on one. It’s a friendly atmosphere. It’s enjoyable to come and do a course here.
