The Programme
This programme has been designed to provide an introduction to the hair and beauty industry and will help students to decide which subject to specialise in at Level 2. They will also study functional skills in literacy, numeracy and IT and complete a qualification in personal and social development. This will help to prepare them for a career in the hair or beauty industry.
The Programme Content
The programme content includes styling womens hair, plaiting and twisting, basic make-up application, themed face painting, nail art application and colouring hair using temporary colour.
Entry Requirements
Four GCSEs at grade E or above including English and Science.
Costs
£50 salon fee, £250 for the salon uniform and kit, £50 for books. Additional trips and qualifications are optional and are usually about £30 to £50 each*.

Tiverton Campus
Progression
Progression to Level 2 hairdressing or Level 2 beauty therapy. Alternatively you could do an Apprenticeship in hairdressing or beauty therapy.
Length of Study
One year full time.
Academic Year
This course starts in the 2012 / 2013 academic year.
