The Programme
This entry level programme gives the students the opportunity to develop skills in literacy, numeracy and IT, while providing the knowledge and skills of a chosen construction trade. All skills learned will equip learners to help them advance in the industry.
The Programme Content
Students will choose between one of the following options that will be followed during the year:
Wood Occupations
Trowel Occupations
Decorative Occupations
Plumbing
Electrical Installation
There is an opportunity for individuals to do some work experience should they wish.
Entry Requirements
There are no formal entry requirements but a good understanding of Maths and English will be of benefit.
Costs
Students will need to purchase safety clothing, eg boots and overalls. There may be a number of trips during the year that may incur a cost*.

Progression
Completion of the course will give students the chance to advance in the construction industry and enable them to progress on to a Level 1 programme.
Length of Study
One year.
Academic Year
This course starts in the 2012 / 2013 academic year.
Further Information
The lecturers are very accommodating, it gives you a lot more opportunities, helps you with the financial side, if you struggle with something, the lecturers will help you one on one. It’s a friendly atmosphere. It’s enjoyable to come and do a course here.
