The Programme
The Arts on Prescription programme is specifically designed for learners who have a history of mild to moderate anxiety and depression. The programme provides a very supportive and sensitive environment for learning.
Suitable for students aged 16 and over. Please ring to enquire about any exceptions.

There are no specific entry requirements as such but an interest in art and design is necessary.

What is AWARD IN CREATIVE CRAFT (AOP)?
This programme in art and design is aimed at learners with a history of mild to moderate anxiety or depression. The programme will provide a gentle introduction to art and design processes, materials and ideas in a supportive and sensitive environment

There are no specific entry requirements as such but an interest in art and design is necessary.
How long will it last?
Varying lengths of study but part time through the day - please enquire for details.
Who is the course for?
The course is specifically for learners with a history of mild to moderate mental health issues. Learners are often prescribed this programme through the Community Mental Health Team, their GP or can be self prescribed by the learner themselves.
What is the course content?
Introduction to art and design processes such as drawing and painting. Learners will explore many processes and techniques in order to build a portfolio of work which could enable progression.
How will it be assessed?
Ongoing - portfolio.
What are the fees and are there any additional costs?
£80 - some students will qualify for remission - please enquire.
What is the progression route?
You may be able to progress onto higher level NCFE programmes - Access to Higher Education Diploma in Art and Design.
