Craft skills to build up confidence and understanding of the required skills to progress in the furniture industry. After building experience in a few set projects, students will be encouraged to design and make their own item of furniture.
Course will start September 2012 and run for one year.

What is CERTIFICATE IN FURNITURE MAKING & FURNISHINGS LEVEL 1?
This is mainly taught in the classroom and will underpin what has been taught in the practical sessions Health and Safety Timber Technology Tool Sharpening and Maintenance Carcase Construction Power Tools Practical sessions Practical sessions will embed what has been discussed and taught in class. The students will progress through a series of prepared projects. Starting simply, and progressively getting harder, these projects are designed to teach you new woodworking skills and stretch your techniques. Design and produce workshop equipment Make furniture products Hand and power tool usage
