The Programme
Are you looking to return to studying, but have been out of education for a period of time? Would you like to learn, but are concerned that your skills are too rusty? If so, then this Award in Progression may be your first step back into studying.
Suitable for students aged 16 and over. Please ring to enquire about any exceptions.
Entry Requirements
While there are no formal entry requirements for this course, suitable applicants would likely have some previous GCSE or O Level qualifications, though not necessarily at high grades. At interview we will discuss prior attainment and your plans for progression, and assess your suitability for this level of course.

Progression
This course will prepare you for further studies in a wide range of areas. Most specifically it will equip you to study a full Level 2 Progression course, preparing you for an Access to HE course. Through this route of progression you can open the door for entry to studying a Higher Education course at university.

The course will run one day a week over 17 weeks (excluding half-term breaks, bank holidays and the Easter holiday period).

What is AWARD IN PROGRESSION LEVEL 2?
The Award in Progression (Level 2) is a stepping stone for anyone over 18 looking to return to education after a break in learning. Perhaps you went straight out to work after leaving school, you were starting a family, or perhaps at the time, the thought of continuing in education just didn't appeal. Whatever your reason for not continuing your studies previously, the Award in Progression offers you a chance to try your hand at education once more, as well as preparing you for further study opportunities.

Who is the course for?
This course is for anyone over the age of 18 who has ambitions to return to part time or full time education. If you want to take a small step back on to the education ladder, then this course will help prepare you with study skills that will enable you to engage with learning on future courses.
What is the course content?
The Award for Progression (Level 2) will offer units in Personal Development, Literacy and IT. These will build a foundation of personal communication and study skills, embed principles for academic writing and develop modern research skills.
How will it be assessed?
All units on this Award will be primarily assessed through assignments or practical tasks. There will not be any exams on this course.

Tuition fees for this course are £233 with an additional £47 exam board registration fee. If you are concerned about the cost of this course, please speak to our Guidance Centre to find out if there is any help available with these fees.
