Headstart – Science, Technology, Engineering & Maths University Experience
This project is run by the Engineering Development Trust in conjunction with many Universities around the country. This provides an opportunity to visit a University for a week long residential trip and allows you to experience University student life and discover more about specific STEM degree programmes. This is ideal for students who are in their first year of College and are thinking about applying to UCAS for University next academic year. It gives you a weeks experience with like minded students and is invaluable for UCAS applications.
There are a wide range of courses based at various Universities with most courses running between 17th June and 5th August 2012. Full details of courses available are on the Headstart Website.
There is a course fee which is typically £250-£300 which includes all accommodation, meals and activities during the course. You will need to arrange transport to and from the University. Applications to these courses can be made on-line at the Headstart website, where you will need to register and apply for 5 courses which interest you. Headstart will take account of your preferences and try to allocate you to an appropriate course.
Applications are open from 1st September with a closing date of Friday 10th February 2012 Applicants will be informed of their places in January – April with most courses running in June and August 2012.
Please be aware that last year Headstart courses were oversubscribed and about 1/3 of applicants could not get on to a course. The earlier you apply, the more chance of success!
Further details and applications, please see the headstart website Further details and applications, please see the Headstart website.
