The Association of Colleges aims to promote the interests of further education Colleges in England and Wales , through addressing needs and creating opportunities. The conference gave students and visitors the chance to observe demonstrations, talk to other Colleges and hear from guest speakers such as the Secretary of State, John Denham.

Mark demonstrated his practical copper pipe work and Lewis illustrated his knowledge in lead work. Neil Hookway from North Devon College commented, "The students thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to exhibit at a national event. It benefited both the students and the industry by raising the profile and it gained a lot of interest from local TV and media".
