Get karting for the Special Care Baby Unit
Students from Petroc are putting their endurance to the test with a 12 hour sponsored karting event 'Le Babies' to help raise money for the Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU).
The group of Stepping Stones students will take to the track at the North Devon Go Kart Centre on Pottington Industrial Estate, Barnstaple on Wednesday 10 February .
The students have organised the event and gathered sponsorship with the hope of raising money and awareness for the Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU) , Stepping Stones Programme , the Formula for Success Project a nd Art on Prescription.
The general public are also being invited to come along and get involved between 6pm and 9pm. By donating £15 or more they will get a 10 minute ride around the track, which would usually cost up to £10 for six minutes. All the laps that are completed will go towards the final total.
"The event is a fantastic chance to have fun and raise money at the same time," said Anthony Beal, Stepping Stones Tutor/Mentor at Petroc. "We want to encourage people to come along and have a go!"
Everyone who takes part will automatically be entered into a grand prize draw for the chance to win first prize of a meal for two at the Tawstock Restaurant and a treatment for two at the Sanctuary Spa, both located at Petroc's Barnstaple Campus. Second prize is a meal for two at the Tawstock Restaurant and third prize is lunch for two at Café Karumba in Holland Walk, Barnstaple .
