Staff and students pulled out the stops for Comic Relief 2011

Date: 21st March 2011

Staff and students at Petroc pulled out the stops for Comic Relief 2011.

Subsidiary Diploma in Sport students took on the Iron Man challenge and swam 2.4 miles at the North Devon Leisure Centre, cycled 112 miles on a bike in the College Reception and then finally ran 26.2 miles in the College gym. Their hard work and aching muscles paid off as they raised £345.84.

Their Sports Lecturer, Lee Weston, also got into the fund raising spirit and said goodbye to his blonde locks for a sponsored ‘Mop Chop’. His reward for braving the clippers was that he raised £339.50.

In addition, the Nail Technology students offered nail treatments all afternoon for just £3 and donned their red noses for a group photo. They raised £25 from the treatments and decided to donate the money they had previously raised for a recently cancelled competition trip, taking the grand total up to £750.34.
