Second year of prize giving success

At Petroc’s Tiverton Campus earlier this month, the College’s second annual prize giving event was held for the academic year 2009/2010.

The event celebrates the success and achievements of full and part time students and the Apprentices within the College’s School of Architecture, Construction and the Built Environment (ACBE).

Students received awards in Multi Skills, Trowel Occupations, Electrical Installations and Wood Occupations for their achievement in both practical and theory sessions.

The event was well attended by students who were supported by their families and employers. Staff from the School of ACBE also attended along with Principal, David Dodd and Deputy Principal, Pené Prior.

Petroc was pleased to welcome Richard Isaac from Skinner Construction who presented the winning medals and gave the guest speech. He also talked about his progression through his career and the construction industry, which was followed by a few words from Petroc’s Marc Sevette and Keith Sampson explaining why each student was chosen for their award.

“Learners, parents and employers were very proud of the recognised achievements,” said Marc, Programme Co-ordinator and Lecturer for the School of ACBE.

“I was particularly glad to have Richard Isaac as a guest speaker, especially when he spoke of the construction trades values. All of those who visited our workshops were very impressed with our facilities and delighted to see the high standard of the learners’ work.”
