The guest speakers made the day both inspiring and informative for the students
An Ambition Careers Conference Day was held at Petroc for Hospitality and Catering students, to enable them to explore the diverse careers options available in the industry.
The College was extremely pleased to welcome Mark Dodson from The Masons Arms in Knowstone, who is a Michelin star chef and former head chef at The Roux Brothers, The Waterside Inn; senior pastry chef, Stuart Pate from Rick Stein; and Sergeant Richard Stebbings from the Army Catering Corps.
This was the events second year and it gave the students the opportunity to interact with the guest speakers and watch them in action doing what they do best. The chefs all demonstrated their signature dishes from their establishments and talked about their experiences and careers.
The event was extremely well received and the students found the input from the guest speakers extremely useful and felt that it inspired them to aim high in their career.
“For the second consecutive year this event has been a huge success – enabling students to be focused and determined in their career path,” said Nicola Shapland, Petroc’s Deputy Head of the School of Lifestyle.
“The employers also really value this event and we are extremely grateful for their aspiring demonstrations.”
