Motor Vehicle Students Learn their Trade Spanish Style

Date: 29th March 2011

Motor Vehicle students from Petroc will be visiting Spain this May to undertake work experience in garages in and around Barcelona.

The trip is funded by the Leonardo Da Vinci Mobility project and enables students to experience the culture and skills present in European Countries.

The students; based at Petroc’s specialist Motor Vehicle facilities in Holsworthy, Barnstaple and Tiverton, had to put themselves through a very thorough application process, detailing how they feel they would gain personally and how it will help them achieve their qualification and future career aspirations.

Fifteen lucky students were chosen to visit Barcelona for two weeks to undertake work placements with Spanish garages and the opportunity to attend lessons at the partner organisation, Monlau, specialists in Motor Vehicle Training. In addition to this, students also get the opportunity to explore the city in a number of cultural visits including visits to Sagrada Familia and Nou Camp Stadium.

“It was certainly a shock when I found out I had won the placement in Barcelona, I didn’t think I would get picked but I am really excited. It will be great work experience and a valuable addition to my CV. I have never worked abroad so am looking forward to this amazing opportunity.” Comments Petroc student Michael Pepper.

Petroc Lecturer, Mark Glover adds
“I am so pleased for all of the students. They have worked hard to gain their place and it’s a fantastic opportunity to broaden their horizons and give them experience that few in the industry have had,”
