Petroc on the move

Date: 1st August 2011

A number of changes to Petroc's premises are taking place, this summer.

Major building and refurbishment works are underway at the main Barnstaple and Tiverton Campuses, as the college closes its Honiton Campus and prepares a new home for the School of Management.

The move from Honiton has been phased over the last couple of years. Motor vehicle and motor cycle courses moved to a new industrial unit in Tiverton, last summer.

Learners on hair, beauty and other courses finished their qualifications in Honiton during 2010-11 or will continue their studies at the Tiverton Campus from this September.

Petroc's Head of Learner Recruitment, David Shuttleworth said: "It's a shame to lose the Honiton site but the facilities in Tiverton are newer, better and more accessible to the overwhelming majority of our students.

"We're still the main Further Education college for East Devon and we continue to provide transport for students from Honiton, Axminster, Seaton and the surrounding area."

You can find out more about bus routes and times from East Devon to Tiverton and the costs of transport via our Student Transport pages.

Work at Tiverton also includes the development of extended construction workshops and a brand new fitness suite.

Meanwhile, in Barnstaple, the training facilities on the top floor of Queen's House, in the town centre have closed.

The School of Management is moving to the college's main campus, on top of Sticklepath Hill.

Various building projects at the Barnstaple Campus are due for completion by September, including a new Higher Education suite, refurbished classrooms, an extended shop and a new student social space.
